A Few Words From Mom

Nia is 12 years old has been figure skating for 5 1/2 years. This year, she is competing at the Intermediate level for the first time. In October, Nia will compete at the South Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships where she hopes to qualify for the 2007 US Junior Figure Skating Championships this December. She is working very diligently to be able to proudly stand on the podium at Junior Nationals. Nia is a member of the Liberty Figure Skating Club of Philadelphia. She trains five days weekly with her new coach, Yelena Sergeeva in Philadelphia. In total, Nia skates 5-6 days weekly, for 15 to 20 hours per week. In addition to that, she spends one hour daily on dance, aerobics, and strength and flexibility training. With skating, schoolwork and fundraising, Nia has an overwhelmingly rigorous schedule. Her family and friends are very proud of her accomplishments and will continue to support her Olympic dreams. We are also very proud of her kind nature and sense of responsibility toward others. She's a great kid!

2006 Competitive Figure Skating Season

2006 SEASON

Hello everyone! My competitive season has begun and I am very proud to have competed at the Liberty Summer Competition in July and Challenge Cup in September. I am looking forward to the South Atlantic Regional Figure Skating Championships in October. I also performed at the American Academy Figure Skating Club Recital in June as well as the Friends of Minority Figure Skating show in August. The support given by my family and the community has allowed me to recover from my injury and train hard to reach my goals this year. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I would like to share some pictures with you. Enjoy!
